After losing a couple of games in a row to kick off the second half of the regular season,

the Pineville Porcupines came into a matchup with the Hendersonville Honeycrisps, a

team that was currently sitting at last place in the Mountain Division.

Unfortunately for Pineville, the Honeycrisps jumped on the Porcs early, scoring three in

the first frame after drawing three walks before Aaron Tolbert hit a ball to deep center

field which got over Riley Stiles' head and cleared the bases.

It was a bad start for RHP Hueston Gorham, who would ultimately take the loss for this

one, allowing two hits, five walks, and five earned runs in four innings of work.

The Porcupines seemingly started to settle in after the teams exchanged runs in the

third, with lead off hitter Alex Lerch getting an RBI knock to send Brody Sanders across

home plate. However, that would be the first and only run scored that night by Pineville.

The pitching staff would try to keep the game alive, with RHP Keith Stevens, in just his

second appearance with the team, coming in as a spark plug for the team and pitching

two straight near-perfect innings before falling apart in the seventh, allowing the bases

to get loaded with zero outs.

This would lead to four more game-clinching runs for Hendersonville, as Camden

Wingard closed things out for the Honeycrisps. RHP Skylar Albright would get the win

on the night, tossing four strikeouts while allowing just two walks, two hits, and one run

in 5.2 innings of work.

The story of the night was free bases given up, as Hendersonville gave up just two

walks and one HBP while having minimal errors in the field, all while allowing just three

total hits.

Meanwhile, the Porcupines had numerous costly errors allowing for two unearned runs

to come across home plate while walking eight batters and hitting five batters. This

resulted in 11 runs for the Honeycrisps with only four total hits on the night.

The 11-1 loss moves Pineville all the way down to last in the division, sitting with a

division record of 9-13 and overall record of 11-13. Looking ahead, the Porcs have their

final road game of the 2026 regular season today against the Lake Norman Harbor

Hippos at 7:00 P.M. After that, the Porcupines return to the Jack on July 6 to take on the

non-division Tarboro River Bandits before meeting the Honeycrisps once again the

following day.
