After winning a couple of games in a row to end their eight-game road trip, the Pineville

Porcupines came into a matchup with the Waynesville Hollers looking to jump them in

the Mountain Division standings.

The Porcupines jumped on the Hollers early, scoring two in the first which was sparked

by a two out triple from Braden Mauro and capitalized on thanks to a couple of infield

mistakes by the Hollers, resulting in an RBI each for Jack Coletti and Chad Matthews.

The Pineville offense would continue to pound away at the mound of Waynesville,

adding on a couple of runs in the third before exploding for five more in the fifth. The

scoring barrage was led by the beginning and middle of the lineup with four of the first

five batters tallying multiple hits and the first six batters getting on base at least once.

The biggest standout from the plate was first-year Porcupine Michael Rogers. The

outfielder tallied up two hits, two runs, and two RBIs to help spur Pineville along to the

win.

But it wasn’t just at the plate that Pineville was finding success, as six Porcupines would

combine to throw the shutout, with Isias Moreno setting the tone by allowing just two

hits and three walks through four innings of work.

The fellow first-year Porcupine would work his way out of a jam which saw the bases

juiced with just a single out before bowing out with six strikeouts on the day.

Pineville would then put in a new pitcher for each of the last five innings, highlighted by

an appearance from Calvin Douglas. Douglas, in his first appearance with the team,

struck out all three of his batters for a perfect fifth inning.

The 9-0 win moves Pineville up to third in the Mountain Division with a divisional record

of 9-10. Looking ahead, the Porcs will stay home this Friday to take on a non-divisional

opponent in the Queen City Corndogs before the ONSL All-Star Game is played on

Saturday.
