Porcupines go yard, snap three-game home skid

The Porcupines sought revenge on the Honeycrisps Tuesday night, as Hendersonville

entered the game with a 4-0 record against Pineville this season.

However, all of that changed with one swing of the bat from Porcupines' first baseman

and ONSL All-Star Corbin Wright.

What started as a pitcher’s duel between Pineville’s Garrett Arner and Hendersonville’s

Will Fulcher was quickly turned on its head after a three-run home run from Wright

erased a 2-1 deficit and gave Pineville a 4-2 lead.

Arner finished his day after five innings of work and three strikeouts, allowing two runs,

one of which was earned.

From there it was business as usual for the Porcupines bullpen, who saw five strikeouts

and three scoreless innings from Scout Gilfillan before Isaias Moreno struck out two of

the four batters he faced in the ninth inning to earn the save.

Wright’s three-run bomb was critical in a day where hits were hard to come by for the

Porcupines. Pineville tallied just six hits throughout the entire contest, three of which

came from the No. 10 hitter, center fielder Riley Stiles. Shortstop Braden Mauro and

second baseman Jack Coletti hit safely as well, with Coletti scoring Pineville’s first run in the fifth inning on a wild pitch.

As the ONSL playoff race heats up, Pineville will host the Mountain Division-leading

Lexington Flying Pigs at home Friday.
