After stringing together a pair of close wins, the Pineville Porcupines found themselves

with a chance to take the third place spot in the Mountain Division with a win over the

Waynesville Hollers and they did just that.

The Hollers, who came into the game with a depleted roster, listing just two players on

the substitution list, started the game out with a rough inning. RHP Sebastian Neave

walked four of his first six batters faced before an error by first baseman Connor

Lindsey allowed three unearned runs to come across home to make it an early 4-0 lead

for the Porcupines.

Things wouldn’t get better from there, as after another two runs were tacked on in the

second inning thanks to RBI singles by both Jack Coletti and Devyn Campbell, Pineville

broke it open with five runs in the third.

RHP Jeremiah Golden would come into the game and struggle mightily against the

Porcupines, as he wouldn’t even last an inning while allowing two hits, three walks, and

one earned run with an error by RF Carter Powell allowing two unearned runs to come

home. Pineville would tack on one more run thanks to a passed ball and hold an 11-0

lead after just three innings.

Devyn Campbell would end up leading the way at the plate in his return game from a

leg injury that had kept him sidelined from numerous weeks, racking up two hits, one

walk, one run, and three RBIs.

At the mound, the Hollers wouldn’t have much more luck as RHP Michael Crayton

would allow just three hits, one walk, and one run while striking out seven in six total

innings of work.

Aiden Vandenbroek would then take over in the seventh and strike out the side to

secure the 13-1 run-rule victory for Pineville and to finish off a dominant pitching

performance by the bullpen, as the team finished with 10 total strikeouts in 21 batters

faced for a near 50% strikeout percentage.

The story of the night was mistakes made by the Waynesville defenders, as the Hollers

would end up committing four errors on the night to consequently give up 9 unearned

runs.

To add on to the struggles, C Evan Conner was having lots of issues at the backstop

position, as six different Porcupines would end up stealing at least one base on the

night, oftentimes without even a throw from Conner. Lucas Dellacruz would end the

night with three stolen bags while Campbell would amass two.

The 13-1 win moves Pineville into the third spot in the division, sitting with a division

record of 13-13 and an overall record of 15-14. Looking ahead, the Porcs will take on

the Lake Norman Haborhippos later today at 7:00 P.M. while looking for their

fourth-straight division victory.

After that, the Porcupines will have five straight games at Jack D. Hughes Memorial

Stadium to finish out the 2026 regular season.
